England’s players face a delay of several months being paid for their IPL stint after this year’s postponement. 

Under the terms of a standard IPL contract disclosed to Sportsmail, salaries are paid by the franchises in three equal instalments, with the last two payments held over until the conclusion of the tournament and the end of the calendar year in which it takes place respectively.

The BCCI plan to reschedule later in the year, with a September date most likely in the build-up to the World T20, which is also due to be held in India.

However, given the Covid-19 crisis both tournaments could be moved to alternative venues. 

The United Arab Emirates has been placed on standby for the World T20, which was cancelled last year following the first wave of the pandemic, with that tournament pushed back to 2022 in Australia.
