The Duchess of Sussex’s outspoken half-sister Samantha has released her tell-all book about their relationship in which she reveals that tensions between the pair likely began decades before she met Prince Harry, when they were all living under the same roof.
It may have started over something as simple as replacing the cap on a tube of toothpaste.
Just as Samantha was brushing her teeth Meghan asked, ‘in a surprising and authoritative tone,’ ‘Babe, could you put the lid back on the toothpaste?’
The request, as simple as it was, appeared to take Samantha by surprise, but it revealed underlying tensions between the pair.
‘I was taken aback, only because it seemed out of character, and most adults put the lid on the toothpaste anyway, so to be reminded of it in advance struck me as a bit snippy,’ Samantha, who is 17 years old than Meghan, writes.
It’s just one of a number of tiny little details that have been recalled and revealed in The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister, Part 1 .
As Meghan grew older and became ‘snippy’ it Samantha would gave her the nickname ‘The Princess of Vista del Mar’, named after the Los Angeles street on which the family lived.

In the book, Samantha recalls watching Meghan rise to fame after getting her breakout role in TV legal drama Suits in the same year she married her first husband, film producer Trevor Engelson.
The pair, who met in 2004 married and 2011 were divorced by the summer of 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.
A few years later, she heard ‘through the grapevine that Meghan was involved with someone on the show,’ and that Trevor had ‘allegedly got close’ with Meghan’s ‘best friend.’

‘Who is this prince?’ asked Samantha.
‘Well, he’s British. It’s Prince Harry,’ Thomas said.
Samantha asked her father to repeat word for word what Meghan had said to him.

‘For her to force our father to disown his daughter, who has struggled with multiple sclerosis for most of her adult life, and uses an electric wheelchair, and also his son, was so unimaginably cruel,’ Samantha comments.
‘The ultimate insult to the family was levied when, in an open interview, Prince Harry said of his family, that the British royal family were ‘the family that Meghan never had.’
Samantha adds: ‘It was unconscionable that she would not only ignore the whole family but that she had somehow, seemingly brainwashed Harry into believing that she did not have a family, or that we were not there for her.’
